The reason why my home has no clock is that we haven't found The Perfect Clock yet (besides the fact that almost every machine in the house including our rice cooker has a digital clock face on it). We want something industrial with clean lines - specifically the Seiko wall clocks you see in old coffee shops but they're hard to find. Modern remakes are just not quite right. We tried looking for them even in Japan and in a shop near our home selling vintage items but all they had were old electrical clocks which won't make sense to install and have them spoil within a year.
This black and white clock in the image by Emma's Blog is really quite perfect. So...Hong Kong, please don't let me down!

i have a feeling it was widely available long ago but not these days. these days they would just buy from ikea.
