Proof

On Sunday we took a walk to Ion Orchard and decided to pop by a friend's new shop - Proof Living has been around for quite a bit bringing in classic brands like Poltrona Frau, Walter Knoll and Cappellini but what was exciting about the new shop was the styling and display carefully laid out to provide a mix and match of contemporary and classic pieces. The spacious layout was subtely sectioned to provide suggestions for different parts of the home - living, dining, etc. layered by screens under a canopy of playful timber strips concealing the services. There's a corner dedicated to Vitra (my favourite corner) featuring pieces by Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson.

Proof has also introduced American brand Barbara Barry previously unavailable in Singapore. The style is relaxed albeit a little matured for me personally, but I did spy several pieces that I might like to go together with the more contemporary look I prefer. Other pieces available are beautiful structured and well-crafted tables and chairs from Zanotta, modern glass pieces from Fiam, playful and textured outdoor furniture from Paolo Lenti and Kenneth Cobonpue as well as a selection of beautiful hand made carpets from Sartori. What's wonderful about Paolo Lenti and Kenneth Cobonpue are that they provide options of outdoor furniture other than the overused (but still beautiful) pieces from Dedon. Talking about outdoor furniture I can't help thinking and gushing about Roda, which is my current favourite (they're brought in by Cream) but I will write about that another time. Below are featured several pieces that I would definately love for myself!

Androo lounge from Walter Knoll with leather upholstry - my favourite part of the chair is actually the beautifully-detailed joint where the arm rest turns down.

Potence lamp by Jean Prouve under Vitra. This lamp might look difficult to use especially in a tight space but I've dug up some images for suggestions that makes the lamp so appropriate in a myraid of circumstances. We actually saw this in a Tokyo and liked it alot.

Standard Chair by Jean Prouve under Vitra

Stich Chair from Cappellini. This always catches my eye whenever they feature it in magazines since it came out in 2008. It's so simple, playful and yet elegant in its function.
