Craft

The Hansen Family is created by Gesa Hansen who hails from a Scandinavian family of architects, designers and carpenters that produces lovely and simple furniture handcrafted from sustainable forests in an atelier in Germany.

Trunk is a modern remake of traditional closet chests which is a box of surprises containing a hat tree, cubby holes and shelves. A collaboration between Gesa Hansen and Masaya Kuroki for Kitsune sees the Trunk travelling to Barneys in New York for a pop up display.

Dutch atelier Reinhard Dienes Studio has a cute lamp called 'Friday' that is made from aluminum and blown glass which can be used as a suspension or table lamp. It seems to be a popular trend with lighting designers nowadays to use coloured chords which is a refreshing way to highlight instead of hide something functional.

Their designs are as uncluttered and honest as their website is. 'Sunday' is a modular kitchen shelf with a flourescent light under the canopy and attached sockets for flexibility. It's a handy addition to the kitchen for herbs and kitchen tools when you need just that little bit more space but you don't want something fixed.

This modular kitchen unit from Stadtnomaden is quirky and flexible with rounded edges that reminds me of a child's play kitchen set, especially when it's a magnet that joins the units together!

I won't stick a knife to the side though. There are so many combinations you can come up with but I think this will work only in a kitchen where you're only going to cook pasta, definately not for a heavy duty Asian kitchen.
