FrancFranc Village

Monocle Issue #34 is out and I spot an advertorial on the opening of a new FrancFranc shop opening in Aoyama-Dori today. FrancFranc is one of best places to go in Tokyo to source for lovely contemporary items for the home. In fact, it holds a special place in my heart as that was where the husband and I first set our eyes on the Amadana toaster and we had to haul it back from Tokyo even though buying a transformer was necessary.

Part retro, part modern it has a wooden walnut handle and a dial at the side to control the timing. We eventually got it from the Amadana shop in Ginza and got to look at the other products of the brand.

Back to FrancFranc. The great thing about this new store that differentiates it from the other FrancFranc outlets that pepper the country is that it reads as a collection of shops, service and social spaces like cafes promoting art and lifestyle, housed under a warehouse-inspired building. Big plus: The Monocle Shop opens its third shop here.
