The funny thing about starting this website is how recent sightings of pieces by certain designers coincide with my getting acquainted to getting to know them at work. Just last month I was at the Hansgrohe showroom at Mohammad Sultan Road choosing sanitary fittings for a client which featured a display of Patricia Urquiola's designs. The beauty is in the styling. My favourite piece from the collection is undoubtedly the wash basin with its form recalling the simple basic notions of a basin.
And then I flipped through a magazine and I find out she's the designer of the woven Crinoline chair from B&B Italia and the Tropicalia and Volant range of seating from Moroso

Patricia Urquiola is from Spain and her designs express a certain clarity of materiality and there's a certain subtle femininity about her designs. Her scope of design is amazing - from architectural, interior decoration and industrial and product design. Elle Decor features an interesting interview with the designer.
Recent magazines feature one of her latest projects - the interior design of the Mandarin Hotel in Barcelona which features her sanitary wares and fittings from Hansgrohe as well as many of her furniture pieces.
