Magic
Old buildings given a new lease of life always has a charm about it. Made into hotels, they extend a welcome to share in the history of the building and surroundings. I'm always enamoured by big industrial spaces - they're typically inaccessible to the common home owner but provide an uplifting experience - pure luxury of space with industrial elements that are raw, honest and tactile.
Located in an abandoned stone quarry in Gotland, Sweden, the Furillen Hotel is an old factory that has been renovated into a luxury hotel with 18 rooms with an industrial feel about it. Looking at the first picture you won't think it's a hotel at first glance - that's the magic...Bathed in wintery shades of greys and monochrome, the hotel is as austere as it is warm with its ubiquitous Scandinavian styling that brings the focus on the landscape.
