Tanjong Beach Club
The island of Sentosa has changed so much since I was a kid. Past the phase of tacky theme parks, it is now a chic haven for the beach-loving beautiful sunkissed people in their bikinis, sipping Frangelicos by the waters.
Several months ago, Takenouchi Webb completed a restaurant project at the beach front that looks very minimal on the outside but is awashed with the 70s Californian beach vibe in the interiors via the language of custom-made concrete breeze blocks, retro bulbous pendant lamps, cane chairs, white rimmed banquette seating and a backdrop of angular timber wall patterns. The surface timber screens takes reference from palm trees in a weaving tilted pattern that serves as a shading device for the interior. I would say this is a refreshing and laid-back approach to glamour.
